Tesla Window Tinting in Navarre, FL
Glass roofs, sensor-safe ceramic film and the honest answer on whether tint helps range — for Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X and every other EV on the Emerald Coast.
EVs make a stronger case for good window film than combustion cars do, and Teslas make the strongest case of all — mostly because of the glass. A Model 3 or Model Y roof is one continuous pane over both rows. That is wonderful in February and a genuine problem in a Navarre August.
Why the glass roof changes the calculation
Tesla’s factory glass already carries a UV and infrared coating, and it does real work — you are not starting from bare glass. But coating a roof is not the same as shading it. Park in an open lot on the Emerald Coast in July and the cabin still soaks up radiant heat through several square feet of overhead glass, concentrated exactly where your head and shoulders are.
Adding a ceramic film to the roof panel is the single change most Tesla owners here notice immediately. It does not make the roof opaque and it does not spoil the open feel — it takes the edge off the direct radiant load.
Why ceramic, specifically, on an EV
A Tesla is dense with radio hardware: phone key over Bluetooth, key card over NFC, LTE for the car’s own connection, GPS, tyre-pressure sensors, and a camera suite doing the driver-assist work. Metallised film — the old way of getting strong heat rejection — is conductive, and conductive film sitting across the glass is exactly the wrong thing for a car like this.
Nano-ceramic gets to the same or better heat rejection with no metal at all. No signal interference, no interaction with the cameras, no arguments with the key card. That is why it is the only film we will put on an EV.
The range question, answered honestly
You will see claims that tint adds meaningful range. Here is the fair version: on an EV, cabin cooling is drawn from the drive battery, so anything that reduces the cooling load reduces the draw. Less solar energy entering the cabin means the air conditioning cycles less, particularly on a car that has been sitting in the sun and has to pull the interior down from a very high starting temperature.
The effect is real but small, and it varies enormously with how you park, how you drive and the time of year. Buy film because the car is more comfortable, the interior stops baking, and 99% of UV stops reaching the seats. Treat any efficiency gain as a bonus rather than the reason.
What we tint on a Tesla
Front sides, rear sides and back glass to the legal limits, the glass roof, and — where the owner wants it — a nearly clear high-TSER windscreen film that cuts heat without visibly darkening the screen. Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X all get the same approach. Owners of other EVs — Mach-E, Ioniq, EV6, Lightning, Rivian — get exactly the same reasoning; we have filmed a good number of them, including the Mach-E in our gallery.
Legal shades in Florida
Model 3 and Model S count as sedans: 28% VLT on the front sides, 15% on rear sides and back glass. Model Y and Model X, registered as multi-purpose vehicles, may go darker behind the driver — down to a 6% floor. We meter your glass before touching it, which matters if you have just moved to Florida from somewhere more permissive. Full detail sits in the 2026 Florida tint law guide.
Booking and price
Ceramic starts at $299 and the glass roof is quoted on top depending on the model. We install at your home or workplace — there is no shop — and a full car is typically one to two hours. See the full price list or the ceramic tint page.
Frequently asked questions
Will window tint interfere with a Tesla’s sensors or signal?
Not the film we use. Ceramic film contains no metal, so it does not interfere with GPS, mobile data, key-card and phone-key Bluetooth, tyre-pressure sensors or the cameras. Older metallised film genuinely could — which is where the concern comes from.
Can you tint the glass roof on a Model 3 or Model Y?
Yes, and it is one of the most common requests we get. The factory roof already blocks a lot of UV, but on a July afternoon in Florida the radiant heat through that much glass is still considerable. Adding ceramic film to the roof makes a noticeable difference to head and shoulder heat.
Does tint improve EV range?
Indirectly and modestly. Less heat entering the cabin means the air conditioning works less hard, and on an EV the air conditioning draws from the same battery that moves the car. Treat it as a comfort upgrade with a small efficiency benefit, not a range mod.
What tint is legal on a Tesla in Florida?
The same rules as any car. A Model 3 or Model S is a sedan: 28% VLT front sides, 15% rear sides and back glass. A Model Y or Model X registered as a multi-purpose vehicle may go darker behind the driver, down to 6%. We meter the glass before we start.
